Langley Franklin gets inducted into the EKTT Hall of Fame by EKTT President Byron Risner. 

On December 27, 2018, Langley Franklin was inducted into the Eastern Kentucky Table Tennis Hall of Fame by EKTT President Byron Risner. “The EKTT Board voted unanimously to induct Langley into the Hall of Fame. His credentials far exceeded our criteria for the Hall of Fame,” said EKTT President Byron Risner. “Langley adds to the prestige and importance of the Hall of Fame with his membership.”

Langley first began participating in the Olympic sport of table tennis in the 1960s. Franklin quickly gained acclaim as a talented and top player in the area with a devastating sidespin serve, outstanding control, and the ability to work the table.

Langley promoted the sport of table tennis with tournaments from the 1960s to the 1990s, helping to establish a base and outlet for the sport in Eastern Kentucky. Today, Morgan County boasts some of the best talent in Eastern Kentucky, and hosts Eastern Kentucky Table Tennis-the top league in Eastern Kentucky (32 counties).

Langley joined EKTT in 1991, and has won many titles and tournaments during his 28 years with the league. Here is a listing of his achievements: 2x Inter-County Champion; 11 x EKTT Doubles Champion; 24 x Regional Champion; WTTA Champion; Eastern Kentucky Classic Tournament Final Four 4 x; 406 EKTT events attended; EKTT Senior Champion and Division Founder; 2x EKTT Senior Doubles Champion; .670 percent career winning percentage; 2018 co-MVP. Among these accolades; his promotion, dedication, and tireless efforts to expand the sport in our area have been significant and amazing.

Langley becomes only the seventh member of the EKTT Hall of Fame which inducted Joe Nevius in 1997 as its first member. The other members are: Byron Risner, Charles Standifer, Junior Gullett, Johnny Johnson and Daniel Arnett.
