RISNER & FRANKLIN WIN ROUND ROBINS AT MEET 12; CHAMPIONSHIP NIGHT 2 SET FOR DEC. 7

meet10pic2

EKTT featured two round robin tournaments.
Group 1 was won by EKTT Champion “The Legend” Byron Risner, who went 3-0. Josh Frisby finished second, Dewey Moore took 3rd, and gave the champ a ferocious match! Manford Wright played tough and took fourth. Dewey finished second in the Inter-County Championship round robin tournament last week, and is showing championship level play.
In doubles action, Manford Wright and Dewey Moore upset Byron Risner and Mitchell O’Neal! This should set up a very interesting match up for next week, or in the future.
Josh Frisby and Gabe Bailey won over Larry Salyer and Dalton Adkins in doubles.
The Group 2 round robin had five players.
Langley Franklin, the Eastern Kentucky Senior Champion (players 50 and up), won in dominant fashion with a 4-0 record.
Langley is a future Hall of Famer, no doubt!
Mitchell O’Neal finished strong in second place with a 3-1 record. Mitchell will face Langley for the Senior Championship this week in a best of 5 contest. Should be a great one!
Larry Salyer, one of our top senior players, came in 3rd after going 2-2. He and Langley Franklin had another classic battle. Their last match produced a game that went to 18!
Gabe Bailey, from Mount Sterling, finished fourth and had a great match with the Senior Champion that went the distance. Gabe is a former seven-time Regional Champion. Speaking of the Regional Championship (which represents Morgan County, and its surrounding counties), will return at Championship Night 2!
The Regional Championship has provided some of the best rivalries in league history since the title was introduced in 1987; making it the oldest active title in EKTT history.
Dalton Adkins came in fifth, but won six games! Dalton is going to be a table tennis star because he loves the sport, and puts in maximum effort with each match. He will be in contention when a new Junior Champion is crowned this week.
Ratings Mover of the Week: Dewey Moore; gaining 49 points! Go Dewey!
Game of the Night: Gabe Bailey edged Dalton Adkins 15 to 13. Congrats to both players for playing with such passion.
